The History of Roblar Quarry

The journey to permit Roblar Quarry began in 2001 when John Barella purchased 1,000 acres at 7175 Roblar Road. The State of California had identified this location as a large deposit of high quality rock.

In 2003 John applied for permits with the County of Sonoma for a Quarry on Roblar Road, the beginning of a 20 year process to open the Quarry.

In October of 2019 after years of negotiations Roblar Quarry received a Modified Use Permit with 183 Conditions of approval. Shortly after the Ratto family and the Powell family bought interest in the Quarry, and together with John Barella formed Roblar Quarry LLC. The race to secure permits from California Department of Fish and Wildlife, The Regional Water Quality Control Board, Army Corps of Engineers, United States Fish and Wildlife, The County of Sonoma to construct the Quarry and open for commercial operations was on. After 2 years of Construction Roblar Quarry was ready open for business, ready to supply high quality construction materials to Sonoma County and beyond.

Our vision for Roblar Quarry extends far beyond its inauguration. It's about fostering a legacy of responsible stewardship, ensuring that Sonoma County has a reliable, environmentally conscious source of essential construction materials for generations to come. The quarry stands as a testament to our enduring dedication to the local community—a commitment that remains steadfast as a core value guiding our endeavors.
